A Person and a Piece of Equipment Are the Same Compliance Problem

There is no difference between a person and a piece of equipment from a compliance system’s point of view. One has blood running through it, the other has diesel. Both have to be right for the site, right now, or neither of them works.

Most contractors do not run it that way. Workforce compliance sits in one spreadsheet: tickets, medicals, inductions, verifications of competency. Equipment sits in another, if it is tracked at all: services, registrations, inspections, plant risk assessments. Two systems, two owners, two ways to get caught out.

The site does not care about your filing. When a client asks “is this crew ready for our site,” they mean the people and the gear. A fitter with a current ticket standing next to a service-overdue machine is not site ready. Neither is a compliant excavator run by someone whose VOC lapsed last week. Readiness is the pair, not the parts.

The 2026 enforcement mood makes this sharper. Regulators are drawing a clear line between compliance on paper and control you can demonstrate in the field. On contractor-heavy sites, mines are expected to check that your workers are trained to the site’s requirements and that your plant is fit for purpose. Those get checked together. Your evidence should be built the same way.

Running people and equipment in separate spreadsheets creates a predictable failure. The two never reconcile. Nobody can answer the pairing question fast, so it gets answered slowly, at the gate, on the day, when it costs the most.

Frontline Equipment Maintenance felt that. They mobilise more than 140 people across 50-plus mine sites in Queensland, New South Wales, and the Northern Territory, and they were running it on Excel. Missed expiries, gate turnarounds, 5:30am phone calls. Once people and vehicles sat in one system with proactive alerts, the whole rhythm changed. In their words: “over the last three to four years, we haven’t had a single gate issue that was our fault.”

GO! Site Ready treats people and equipment as one register. Every worker credential and every equipment record maps against the requirements for each site and role, so the readiness question gets one answer for the person and the machine at the same time. Expiries on either side raise tiered alerts before they reach the gate. Reporting covers people and equipment together, which is the form a client or an auditor asks for.

It is built for mining suppliers, and it works across mining, construction, civil, and industrial sites, so one system holds up wherever requirements change by site or client.

Stop treating your people and your plant as two problems. From a compliance point of view, they never were.
